In The Beginning. . . .

In the beginning

This is the first post to our website and this was everything that was happening when we first began posting here.

In the beginning . . . there was a pandemic, an election, wildfires, the restaurants kept opening and closing. Breakfast available then not. There was a lot of uncertainty.

In the beginning . . . we had to meet in the park, or in backyards, even on the roof. Then we weren’t allowed to meet at all. This wasn’t the ideal way to begin. It’s like the universe was less than thrilled with our plans.

In the beginning . . . we’d already been doing this for a year, so it wasn’t really that much of a beginning.

In the beginning . . . there was lots of back and forth with the hosting service. It was a real drag.

In the beginning . . . deadlines were flying by like dots on the road.

In the beginning . . . we were in the heat of producing Volume One. We were two men with a secret. We were so excited!

In the beginning . . . we also felt so shy and uncertain. Even after a year of projects, we didn’t know what we were supposed to be doing. But that was kind of the point, to always be beginning. Because the beginning is the best place to be, the place of most possibility. And it’s fine if we never know what to do next; we’ll just guess, get it wrong, and recover later. So much happens in the recovery. That’s where all the good stuff happens.

And now we’ve begun.
